I was a little bit worried when I first made the decision to purchase the A5, after hearing about some cycling problems. I have the Ultimate in 3″ with the 28″ barrel and wow, does it ever impress.
I took it straight to the trap range and it cycled target loads without a problem. Put about 300 rounds through it now, all target loads, and not one issue. It strips down very quickly and the recoil isn’t too bad. It’s inertia driven, so of course it’ll be a little but harsher on the shoulder, but overall it isn’t terrible.
I wish it came with more chokes (only comes with 3). Also, if you end up getting any A5, make sure you strip it down before you fire it and clean the packing grease out of it. I gave mine a deep clean before I fired it and oiled it up with some light gun oil.
Overall, my A5 has performed flawlessly and it is so absolutely beautiful. I get comments from everyone who sees it about how pretty she is. Not disappointed at all.

I’ve been a longtime fan of the original humpback. So, naturally, when it was time to purchase a brand new autoloader, the A5 was first on the list. I love the look of the ultimate’s receiver. The overall weight and balance are a big improvement over my Belgian light 12. I’ve put almost a box thru it, between patterning and a day pheasant hunting. No issues. Afterwards I field stripped it, I was really surprised at how clean the bolt and receiver were. The barreled cleaned up easily. There was no residue under the choke tube either.
I was disappointed that browning changed the recoil system, still an inertia system but the barrel is now stationary…(love the barrel recoil on the original design!). This will be the last new shotgun I’ll buy…unless they reintroduce the A5 20ga….

I shot the Sweet 16 at the Shot Show range day and fell in love. Clay pigeons were flying everywhere and the Sweet 16 was dusting every one I selected. Points great, feels great. Good product Browning.

First time out to the trap range to begin the tuneup process for a fall pheasant hunt in SD I broke 24/25 with this gun. Great fit and function, as well as a nice looking gun. Highly recommend!
